Barrett is the third judge nominated by President Trump during his administration. The previous two were Neil Gorsuch in 2017 and Brett Kavanaugh in 2018.

In previous statements, the judge has said that she will take her rulings at law. Analysts affirm that she belongs to the ‘originalist’ line in the interpretation of the Constitution. It should be interpreted according to its makers’ minds and not as varying in time, in the concept of a ‘living’ constitution.

Barrett thinks that a judge should apply the law as it is written and not according to views that may be personal.

Representing the voice of many, Grazie Christie, Political Advisor of the Catholic Association, noted that “the confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett is great news for all Americans who prefer an independent and fair judiciary to an activist one. Justice Barrett has demonstrated that she will apply the law equally to all who come before her and that she will faithfully interpret the Constitution as it is written. Her thorough knowledge of the law is matched only by her exemplary character. She is a role model for women and girls who aspire to the highest levels of fulfillment.
