Walter Cascioli: “The Devil wants us to believe he does not exist”

Vatican City (Tuesday, 11-04-2014, Gaudium Press) The spokesman of the International Association of Exorcists, Walter Cascioli, who is also a psychiatrist, stated that one of the ways the devil uses to tear us apart from God is “making us believe he does not exist”.

Speaking to the Vatican Radio, the expert noted that “sometimes, the most common demonic activity, which is temptation, is not taken into consideration by those who have a lukewarm faith. Therefore, we encourage greater vigilance.”

Cascioli also says the historical moment we are living is particularly critical, because of the rush, superficiality, exasperated individualism and the secularization seem to dominate the whole society.

According to the expert, “the fight against evil and the devil is a growing need”; this happens because of “the lack of values and cultural relativism”, that is also a result from the direct action of the enemy of God. “Furthermore, we are witnessing a continuous flourishing of media messages, books, television shows and film that somehow, taking advantage of sensationalism and entertainment, strongly encourage the new generations to have contact with the occultism and Satanism, and sometimes even to practice it, “he lamented.

An alert call made by Cascioli is that “the weakening of faith certainly affects the incidence that this demonic and paranormal activity has, especially in family life and among young people”. (EPC)
